A day after announcing its first employment figures for December, NAGpur’s employment rose to 2.22 lakh, its best showing since July 2016.

The unemployment rate in the district is at 10.9 per cent, which is lower than the national rate of 15.5 per cent.

The jobless rate in Uttar Pradesh rose to 7.3 per cent in December, its highest showing since March 2018.

In the capital, UP, employment jumped to 18.2 lakh in December.

The district is the fastest growing in the country, with its population growing at a faster pace than the rest of the country.

The total number of jobs added in the city rose to 23.7 lakh in November, the fastest pace in the state.

The number of job vacancies rose to 18,000 in December from 15,000 the previous month.

The employment rate was 6.6 per cent at the end of the month, according to the state statistics agency.
